Much of the foundation that legacy newspapers long have believed are pillars of journalism ethics are, in fact, eroding or gone. Tips and scandals for anonymous hackers, highly personal selfie and elevator photos, Twitter mob mentality at crime scenes and more, are changing the equation of what gets published, broadcast and accepted by media outlets and the public. Where is this headed? Is there an ethical foundation for journalism today? Or, are we simply rushing to anything goes? How are editors dealing with instant, unsubstantiated, highly volatile and popular content?
